Ranger is the most successful pickup model in the Vietnamese market. Diverse versions, eye-catching designs and many equipment, Ranger is storming and storming in the pickup segment.

Detailed description/review

On August 12, Ford Vietnam announced the price of Ranger 2022. The new generation pickup model will be delivered to customers at the end of September. Dealers have opened deposits for customers.

Ranger is inherently the king in the pickup segment of the Vietnamese market, and changes in the new generation will likely widen the gap with rivals. When the new generation Everest launched with notable upgrades, customers had expected a new Ranger to make a similar makeover.

The first is the changes in design and chassis. To make it easy to imagine, the Ranger is an Everest that cuts its tail to form a pickup shape. Other details such as the C-shaped lamp, the grille remain the same. The interior is similar to the Everest with the highlight of the center screen being as long as a tablet, something that started in Volvos and Teslas and is increasingly popular in the four-wheeler industry.

Regarding the chassis, the car extends the wheelbase by 50 mm, the distance between the two wheels on the same axle also increases by 50 mm. Basically, this way helps the interior to increase space, the occupants promise to be more comfortable.

The engine compartment is also enlarged, which also helps to increase air circulation through the radiator system, increasing cooling efficiency, especially in harsh working conditions.

Previously, Ranger was a product with nearly 10 version options, but in recent years there are only 5 versions left. In the new generation, Ford Vietnam provides an additional version, XLS 4x4 AT to fill the gap of more than 140 million between the XLS 4x2 AT and the XLT 4x4 AT. If before, under 800 million, customers could not buy a 2-wheel automatic transmission car, now it is.

Looking at how Ranger's product division can be seen, customers who buy pure cars for business transport only need to spend less than 700 million. Individual buyers combined with transportation can choose from 750-850 million. In the end, a pickup with everything will cost nearly 1 billion, Wildtrak version.

To serve this purpose and money range, all XL, XLS and XLT versions use a single turbo 2.0 diesel engine, with a capacity of 168 horsepower, maximum torque of 405 Nm. Only the Wildtrak version is equipped with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine with a capacity of 207 horsepower and maximum torque of 500 Nm.

In terms of interior equipment, the Wildtrak version has a large 12-inch entertainment screen, the remaining versions use the 10-inch version. Support connectivity using Ford's latest SYNC 4 technology. The car has a 360 camera and smart storage space, wireless charging.

Cargo utility is also noticeable with a 50 mm wide trunk and equipped with a new cargo management system. The box lining is made of molded plastic to prevent scratches on the goods and protect the customer's knees.

In terms of technology to support operation and safety, the car has a terrain control system with 6 driving mode options including Normal, Economy, Towing and Heavy, Slippery, Mud and Sand. The car also has the ability to engage the electronic bridge.

Safety technology with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, post-collision braking, reverse brake assist, collision warning and emergency braking, 360 camera ...

With these upgrades and the origin assembled at the company's factory in Hai Duong, Ranger can solve the supply problem better than imported competitors, if it can take the initiative in the amount of experience. The race in the pickup segment, can continue to be a dull one.
